this is just a creature carrying a literal death mask. somehow she managed to deal with johnny's barrage of attacks, and he felt bad enough to catch it. upon retrieval, he showed jonathan, who didn't seem too happy with johnny trying to put roundabout's mask on his own face. what a spoil-sport.
